Saturday breakfast rolls: James Beard's wholewheat nut bread recipe, cutting down on the sweeteners: turned out very nicely indeed.

Sunday lunch: halibut steaks, which I poached very successfully by this method, served with samphire sauce (it's really hard to get this exactly right, at first when I used the suggested amount of water it was very difficult to produce a puree, using more water for cooking it turned out a bit too runny), minature potatoes roasted in goosefat, and padron peppers.

Today's lunch: Gressingham duck steaks cooked according to the packet instructions, with savoury jellies, served with crinkle-cut sweet potato oven fries with jerk seasoning (these cooked rather unevenly, not sure if that was due to these particular sweet potatoes, crowding them too closely on the baking sheet, or possibly some not getting turned over during cooking), garlic roasted sweet stem cauliflower, and stirfried mangetout peas.

With this we had the traditional anniversarial champagne (33 years!).
