My original answers here.

Wow, looking at other people's responses to the questions, I never realised that okra was pretty much up there with brussels sprouts for so many people! I had not known the depth of loathing this vegetable evoked. I think I came to it via Indian/Greek food, which may be the difference?

I suddenly realised at some point over the weekend that YES! I have made biscuits according to the US usage of that word: there was a time when I used very occasionally to make angel biscuits from a recipe in Greenstein's Secrets of a Jewish Baker - this is similar but I'm not sure it's exactly the same - they were delicious. Not sure why I stopped - possibly because even reducing quantities ended up with rather a lot.

If scalloped potatoes are pretty much the same as gratin, I have made gratins.

My image of jello salad, I know not why, is small moulded jellies containing things that nature never intended to be embedded in jelly. But if it covers 'jelly with fruit in it' in my childhood/youth I would have assisted my mother in making jelly with sliced banana or tinned fruit in it for a teatime treat. I would never have called this any kind of salad, though.
