Adventures in customer service
Sep. 17th, 2020 07:18 pmSo, I have been trying to cancel a Kobo pre-order for over a fortnight.
And how you are supposed to do this is go to 'My Account/Purchase History/Pre-orders' and lo and behold, you have an option to cancel pre-orders there.
Except that when I do that, I get an Error Message (and this is common to all browsers I have tested it in) and I cannot do this.
So I sent an email to the Help Desk, as suggested.
No response.
And a week later I sent another, slightly testier, one.
And this week I finally caved and went into Chat at the website, an operation which took the best part of half an hour - it did not help that person I was communicating with kept talking about a refund, and I was, no, this has not yet been charged to my card, I want to cancel the pre-order...
But, anyway, it does appear that the pre-order has been cancelled, moderate yay.
And today I got a survey to tell them how they did.
And there were text-boxes to explain why you had marked them as you had! and they allowed quite lengthy accounts!
Whether they will read them is moot, but I got that off my chest.
However, I am quite massively deterred from a) trying to get that particular problem with Purchase History and b) the problem with downloading purchases via Kobo Desktop fixed because sitting about dealing with somebody in chat is ennuyant in the extreme.
Also, I have discovered that it does appear that I can download directly to e-reader by wifi though it gives very counter-intuitive messages while doing so.
