Author, Google tells me, of Robinson der Jüngere, translated as New Robinson Crusoe: an instructive and entertaining history for the use of children of both sexes.

So, not plagiarism or inaccuracy (except possibly on Sony's part, as regards the title). Transformative fanfic!

Oh my, that's the book I had as a child. I always thought it was the Robinson Crusoe and that I was really smart to know the author's name :)

Hmmm - as it's up there with a tiny selection of other Grayt Classik Werkz ov Litt - Mr WS, Jane Austen (though I think people might quibble at S&S being the brand leader there) and a translation of Don Quixote, I think it's reasonable to expect it to be the Real Thing (though I guess Defoe is hardly the person to go to for Real Thingness, as a pioneer of the fake memoir...) even if it's the real thing in an obscure C19th edition.
