In currently wet and miserable Minneapolis.

Long tedious flight with significant phases of turbulence, also the plane cabin was terribly chilly - I thought it might be someone near me with the ventilation thing wide open, but someone I ran into who is going to the same conference said she had found it cold too. Also, NorthWestern Airlines catering seems to have a curious attachment to cheese: the main meal choice was some kind of pasta in cheesy sauce, or chicken - which came dumped in a cheesy risotto. Fortunately they had a spare what I suspect was the vegan option - couscous + veggies. The turkey sandwiches being served at the 'snack' point had cheese in them, too. However there was again a spare possibly vegan alternative.

However, other aspects of the trip went fairly smoothly, including my case coming round on the carousel just as I got to it after passport control.

What a long and complicated excursion it is to get from international arrivals to the shuttles, however - down and across and down and across and up.

Room seems okay - at least I can haz internet.

I'm glad I'm here too, but the flight seemed interminable!

To Our Fair Cities.

Fasten your seatbelt, it's going to be a bumpy night...

Re: cheese, um, yah. It's a Mpls-based company for now. Welcome to the Upper Midwest, home of really lots of cheese. It's doable for vegans and the lactose intolerant, but it's somewhat harder than some other places.

I've become lactose intolerant in the last few years, but I can handle cheese.

It's a migraine trigger, alas - I can manage lactose generally, but not hard cheeses.

My last flight to the States was absolutely freezing too. I mentioned it to the stewardess b/c everyone in my row was cold and they actually warmed it up a bit.

I often get the veggie or vegan choice on planes cuz the food is so much better!

I have heard of people who declare themselves kosher for that reason! I think I might become an airline vegan, because the cheese issue arose with BA recently as well.
